Mellino Mellini Hospitals
Year: 2005 - 2016 - Location: Chiari-Orzinuovi-Iseo (BS), Italy
Seismic Assessment and Retrofit. The performance was focused on seismic vulnerability analysis and structural design for a gross total surface area of over 430.556 ft2.
Starting from the year 2004, the Mellino Mellini Hospital of Chiari (Bs) has undergone a progressive intervention of plant, functional and structural adaptation. The works involved Orzinuovi, Chiari and Iseo garrisons. The total gross area exceeds 40,000 square meters. Most of the buildings are subject to architectural constraints both for the artistic value and for the environmental value of the complex.
In the course of the work, a series of very large structural reinforcements was tackled. The LV2 seismic safety evaluation levels (evaluation on single macroelements, local collapse mechanisms) and LV3 (overall assessment of the seismic response) indicated by the "Guidelines for the Evaluation and reduction of seismic risk of cultural heritage" have been fully developed.
