History
Studio Calvi begins in 1952 as the technical office of professor Gianpaolo Calvi.
The intense academic and research activities of the principal, by gathering the cultural and technical legacy of architect Aschieri, lead to the growth of the office, which deals with design and work supervision of public civil structures.
Through sixty years of activity, in the areas of architecture and engineering, the office progressively established itself both nationally and internationally relying on the activity of more than 50 collaborators.
In 1985 the arrival of Gian Michele Calvi, full-professor of structural design at the University of Pavia, gave new impulse to the organization and to the development of the company, with particular emphasis on structural and seismic design.
Since 1997 the company is located within palazzo Pellegrini in Via Boezio Nr. 10 in Pavia.
Studio Calvi is an engineering firm with three technical directors and more than twenty designers, besides the secretarial and administration staff. The design activities are divided into 5 different sectors (architecture, restoration and conservation, plants and energy efficiency, structures and infrastructures, safety), even though they are strongly connected and integrated in order to provide the client with a coordinated interface of support and assistance from the preliminary and planning phases to the construction, to the fitting out and subsequent maintenance. Together with the complexity of the specialization, a philosophy based on a multidisciplinary approach and integrated design is followed, supported by the expertise in the
field of economic and time planning.
Studio Calvi acts in all sectors of engineering and architecture, with particular emphasis on design and advanced structural and seismic consultancy and on the restoration and conservation of historical and cultural heritage.
The portfolio of studio calvi includes several design topics covering a wide range of architectonic types: accommodation, commercial facilities, bridges, sport and health centers, residences, structures for the services sector, museums and infrastructures. The society proposes itself as a complete partner able to assist the client in the draft of master plans with a high level of complexity, in the definition of the contractual strategies and in the selection of construction companies, in the management of the whole process from the planning to the fitting out, in the draft of businnes plans and in project financing operations.
The average turn over in the last ten years is about 2,1mill. euros. It could attest certifications for completed jobs for total amount of about 2bill. euros.
